Newcastle United's Joelinton Manages To Kick The Ball Into His Own Head With Explicable Miss

Newcastle United's Joelinton went viral on social media last night after producing a truly inexplicable moment in the 3-1 win over Everton.

Eddie Howe's side came from behind to claim a huge three points that moved them out of the bottom three.

A Jamaal Lascelles own goal put the Toffees in front but then Mason Holgate put through his own net to level matters.

Ryan Fraser put Newcastle in the lead before January signing Kieran Trippier secured the huge victory at St James' Park with a superbly placed free-kick to open his account for the club.

But the main talking point amongst fans on social media was Joelinton's quite incredible miss in first-half stoppage time.

Allan Saint-Maximin did his thing down the right flank and picked out the Brazilian on the cut-back.

He was unmarked and in acres of space and it looked like a great chance to put the Magpies ahead.

However, the former Hoffenheim man slipped at the worst possible time and ended up kicking the ball against his own head before stumbling to the floor.

The comical Sunday League-esque scenes were always going to go viral on social media and soon Joelinton's miss became talk of the town.

Joelinton signed for the Toon in a club-record £40 million switch in 2019 and has scored just 11 times in 105 appearances.

These days, he's been transformed into a box-to-box midfielder rather than a striker and in just a five second clip from Tuesday night, it's easy to see why.
