Newcastle United fans react with excitement after seeing Bruno Guimaraes claim assist for Brazil

Newcastle United fans were delighted to see Bruno Guimaraes step onto the field for Brazil just a few days after he became the club's marquee signing of the January transfer window.

The midfielder stepped off the bench in the 73rd minute of the match and went on to assist Real Madrid's Rodrygo for Brazil's fourth in a 4-0 win over Paraguay.

Although it was only a short appearance, Guimaraes was in the midst of the action and Magpies fans have taken to social media to express their excitement about seeing him pull on the black and white shirt in the second half of the Premier League season.

Here are a selection of some of the best tweets:

"[Guimaraes] Looks the business for sure. Leagues ahead of the dross we've had to witness in CM for the Toon."

"Future bright for @NUFC well done @brunoog97."

"Love to see our lad @brunoog97 getting an assist in his international game with Brazil. #NUFC "

"Bruno assist last night! not a bad cameo off the bench! #NUFC

"Guimarães starts the move with the turn and pass, catches up with play, makes the run into the box, and makes the assist. We’ve basically signed Pele. #NUFC "

"Intelligent midfield play with actual box to box fitness hope he’s ready to play for the Everton game."

"Bruno Guimaraes has just come on. An #nufc player is currently playing in a match for Brazil. Pinch me!"

Newcastle fans will hope to get their first glimpse of Guimaraes in a Newcastle shirt in their first league match after the break, coming on February 8 against Everton.
