Newcastle: Howe faces big 'problem' as £93k-p/w star could miss Bournemouth

Newcastle not having Allan Saint-Maximin for their game against Bournemouth on Saturday would be a problem, says journalist Dean Jones.

The Tyneside club have been without the £93,000-a-week winger for their last two matches, and it appears that he could miss their latest fixture.

Saint-Maximin has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury picked up in a 1-1 draw with Wolves last month.

As a result, the 25-year-old has missed games against Liverpool and West Ham in what was a blow to manager Eddie Howe.

He has still not been pictured in training yet, which suggests that Saturday’s clash versus Bournemouth may come too soon, while the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has also said an appearance is now unlikely.

Saint-Maximin was in red-hot form before picking up that injury, scoring in the draw away at Wolves and assisting twice against Premier League champions Manchester City.

Jones thinks Newcastle could have a bit of a problem if they head into the encounter with Bournemouth at St James’ Park without Saint-Maximin.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “To not have him available is actually a bit of a problem. I mean, this is a guy that they were willing to lose at one point.

“They would’ve sold Saint-Maximin at the right price, but now because of the way he’s started the season, he actually does seem like a bit of a loss.”

They should have enough in their arsenal to defeat a newly-promoted side like Bournemouth, who have already conceded 18 goals this season.

The Magpies, of course, just spent £60m on Alexander Isak, who looks capable of scoring goals at this level.
