Wolves: 'Three games could dictate' Lage's future at Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Bruno Lage is in danger of losing his job and upcoming fixtures against Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Leicester City could ‘dictate’ his future at Molineux, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The West Midlands side currently sit just two points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone and are facing the daunting task of taking on reigning champions Manchester City on Saturday.

Former Benfica chief Lage was appointed as Wolves’ head coach, replacing the departed Nuno Espirito Santo, last year.

Although he led his side to within five points of Europa Conference League qualification during his first season at the helm, Wolves have not had a positive 2022.

Wolves have recorded just nine Premier League victories over the course of the calendar year and Lage was involved in a sticky situation in May.

It was reported that players within the dressing room were protesting against the 46-year-old’s plans to move away from a three-man backline and implement a new system.

However, Lage pushed forward with his plans and has deployed a back four throughout the early stages of the season.

Jones believes that Lage’s job is on the line and how Wolves perform in the weeks after the upcoming international break will be crucial.

Following trips to West Ham United and Chelsea, the West Midlands outfit will take on Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Leicester City. The journalist feels securing positive results in the latter three fixtures is a necessity.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “They’ve got two difficult games coming after the international break. After those two, I think they’ve got Forest, Palace and Leicester.
