Newcastle 10-47 Cardiff: Welsh side keep up unbeaten start in Europe with seven-try thrashing

Cardiff made it two wins from two in the Challenge Cup with a convincing victory away to Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park.

A brace of tries from Josh Adams and further scores from Rhys Priestland, Owen Lane, Rhys Carre and Mason Grady ensured Dai Young's side had far too much for the Gallagher Premiership outfit and means they sit top of Pool A with maximum points.

Cardiff's opener came as Ellis Jenkins, as part of a man of the match performance on his return to the side, spotted half a gap and got his hands free through the tackle to feed Taulupe Faletau, who gave Adams a run-in.

More good work from the backs gave Priestland the space to sneak over after a neat offload from Rey Lee-Lo.

Former Ospreys fly-half Josh Thomas got Newcastle on the board with a penalty, but the rest of the first-half belonged to Cardiff.

Lane, in his first appearance of the season, got over in the corner after some strong carries. Then, at the end of the half, a smart lineout move saw Carre barrel over for the bonus point.

The home side started the second-half well, with Sam Stuart sniping over from a ruck. But that was as good as it got for Newcastle.

Minutes later, a strong Cardiff maul brought about a penalty try, with Newcastle lock Matthew Dalton recieving a yellow as a result.

Adams and Lane combined soon after to put the former over for his second score, before Grady picked off a looping pass to race away from 80 metres out.
