New Maidstone United signing Dajon Golding keeps personal targets for season close to chest as attacker agrees terms with Gallagher Stadium club

New Maidstone signing Dajon Golding knows how many goals and assists he wants this season - but won’t be revealing those numbers just yet!

Attacker Dajon Golding, 27, has done enough to impress Stones manager George Elokobi while on trial this summer, joining from Scottish League 2 side Elgin City following the expiration of his contract at Borough Briggs.

Maidstone confirmed Golding’s arrival on Friday, two days after they signed keeper Nathan Harness, after the club missed out on National League promotion last term, losing the National League South play-off final 1-0 at Boreham Wood.

“My personal goal is to try and put this club into the best position, moving forward,” Golding told the club website. “Ideally, we want to be in and around it, we want to be competing, we want to be fighting (near the top-end of the league).

“In terms of my own personal goals, I’m an attacker so I want to score goals and get assists.

“I’ve got a number in my head I want to achieve - but I’ll keep that to myself.

“I don’t want to jinx myself!”

The opportunity to play in front of the Stones’ supporters also helped convince Golding to sign for the club.

He said: “It’s a massive club, with a big fan-base.

“Especially with what happened last season, it’s a club that is on the up.

“When I came in - instantly - I could tell by the environment that the gaffer, George, and Craig (Fagan, assistant) have put together, it was somewhere where you want to be.

“You know you’re going to improve as a footballer.”

Golding featured prominently for Elgin City in the 2024/25 campaign, making more than 50 appearances and netting nine times - highlighted by a brilliant solo strike that helped propel his former side into the play-offs.
