Never forget the City fan that missed Kompany’s wonder-goal v Leicester to go to the toilet

When it comes to the topic of Manchester City‘s greatest goal of the 21st century, there’s only one correct answer.

It is, of course, Sergio Aguero‘s dramatic injury-time strike against Queens Park Rangers that secured the club’s first ever Premier League title in 2011/12.

That goal really is the stuff of legend and will likely never be topped.

But when it comes to City’s second-greatest goal of the 21st century, the answer is just as easy.

Vincent Kompany‘s thunderbolt against Leicester City in May 2019 left all of us watching open-mouthed and it proved to be the decisive blow in the epic 2018/19 title race.

Pep Guardiola’s side were struggling to break down the Foxes at the Etihad and were on course to draw 0-0, which would have gifted top spot to Liverpool.

But in the 70th minute, Kompany carried the ball out from the back and decided to take aim from around 30 yards out – despite calls from his teammates not to.

The centre-back wisely ignored them and his ridiculously powerful shot nestled in Kasper Schmeichel’s top corner, sending the home fans inside the stadium wild.

Well, all of them except one.

As Kompany wound back his right peg, a City fan was on their way up the stairs for a toilet break and actually missed the ball nearly bursting the net.
