Neil Lennon eyes Celtic transfer raid as forgotten man lined up for Rapid Bucharest switch

Celtic's Benjy Siegrist has opened talks over a move to Neil Lennon’s Rapid Bucharest.

The big keeper has been given permission by Celtic to travel to Romania to see if a permanent deal can be finalised. The 32-year-old has made it clear that he wants to leave the Hoops to get his career back on track. Celtic knew his situation, hence, the reason they have signed Kasper Schmeichel and Finnish keeper Viljami Sinisalo from Aston Villa, after Joe Hart also announced his intention to retire this summer.

The Swiss-born star joined Celtic from Dundee United in 2022 but has struggled for regular game time. Siegrist has been looking for a way out over the last couple of windows. He had interest from Scotland and Europe this summer but nothing that has convinced him to leave Celtic Park. Now he has been offered the chance to get going again under Lennon. The ex-Celtic boss decided to relaunch his own career in Romania with the fallen giants in the summer.
