Michel Ange Balikwisha at Celtic transfer 'standstill' as Antwerp stumbling block could let rivals steal a march

Michel-Ange Balikwisha finds himself in a Celtic transfer stalemate with Royal Antwerp's asking price currently too high for the Hoops, according to a report.

The Premiership champions have been linked with a move for the Belgian forward as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his attacking options. The Parkhead boss today reiterated the need for quality as he demands a big Champions League improvement from his side. He also remains hopeful that further deals will be done before the end of the transfer window, having brought in Kasper Schmeichel, Viljami Sinisalo and Paulo Bernardo so far.

But something will have to give in their pursuit of Balikwisha. Reports in Belgium claim both clubs are still too far apart in their valuation, with the Bhoys currently unwilling to meet the value Antwerp have placed on the 23-year-old. Clubs in France and Germany are also keeping a keen aye, and could step in given the lack of progress in negotiations between Celtic and Antwerp.
