Neal Maupay in savage James Maddison troll after Euro 2024 axe as Brentford man reignites Tottenham star feud

Neal Maupay has renewed his feud with James Maddison after poking fun at the Tottenham star's exclusion from England's Euro 2024 squad.

The war of words between the two Premier League players started back in February after Spurs had ran out winners against Maupay's Brentford. French forward Maupay had put the Bees 1-0 up in that game and celebrated his opener by copying former Aberdeen loanee Maddison's goal celebration of pretending to throw a dart. In the aftermath of the match, Maddison added fuel to the fire by telling TNT Sports: "He probably hasn't scored enough goals in the last couple of years for his own celebration, so he probably had to copy mine."

And after the playmaker was told by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate to leave the England camp ahead of their final pre-tournament friendly against Iceland on Friday night, Maupay - who has became known for his wind-up tactics on social media - wasted no time in ridiculing his Premier League rival.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) the 27-year-old posted a picture of himself in his Brentford strip standing in front of a dart board with three darts in his hand. The post came just an hour after Maddison was left devastated that he would not be on the plane to Germany next week.

In an emotional post on social media, Maddison wrote: “Devastated doesn’t quite cut it. Trained well and worked hard all week but if I’m honest with myself, my form for Spurs when coming back from injury in the second half of the season probably wasn’t at the levels I had set which gave Gareth a decision to make.

“I still thought there would be a space for me in a 26 man squad as I feel I bring something different and had been a mainstay in this whole qualifying campaign for Euro 2024
