Nat Phillips won't extend Celtic loan stay as Liverpool plan alternative destination after limited exposure
Nat Phillips won't be extending his stay at Celtic with the Liverpool loanee set to return to Anfield in January,
And the Reds are likely to loan the centre back elsewhere for the second half of the season, according to the Athletic. Phillips has made just eight appearances for the champions since signing back in August, with only four of those being starts. Liam Scales' form had kept Phillips out of the reckoning for most of the campaign, but injury to Cameron Carter-Vickers meant he was drafted in as Brendan Rodgers went through a mini defensive crisis.
Phillips netted an own goal in last weekend's defeat at Kilmarnock. And he was nowhere to be seen as Hearts piled on the misery with a 2-0 win at Celtic Park on Saturday. Barring further injuries or suspension, it could be that he's played his last game for the club prior to the loan agreement with Liverpool ending next month.
