Rangers 'interested' in Scott McKenna transfer as Celtic face battle amid Nottingham Forest signing race

Rangers have reportedly entered the signing race for Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna amid Celtic's interest in the January window.

The defender reportedly given the green light to leave this month having struggled to hold down a regular place with the English Premier League side this term. He has failed to even make the bench for Nuno Espirito Santo's first three games at the helm and the the former Aberdeen star looking to impress with Scotland at Euro 2024.

A loan move looks set to be rubber stamped this month - with Sky Sports stating that the deal would be with a view to signing as a free agent when his Forest contract expires at the end of the campaign. Reports had suggested that Brendan Rodgers side were in pole position to sign the centre-back as the boss looks to add depth to his defence with with Liverpool loanee Nat Phillips quietly returning to Anfield while Gustaf Lagerbielke's future is up in the air just six months after arriving.

But sky claim that Rangers are also interested in a deal to take McKenna to the Scottish Premiership. The 27-year-old has failed to make an appearance for Forest since September 18.
