'My understanding...' - Keith Downie says PIF could 'revisit' exciting Newcastle target

Sky Sports journalist and North East reporter Keith Downie reports that Newcastle United could ‘revisit’ a deal for Jack Harrison.

It was reported earlier this week that Leeds United has rejected an offer worth around £33.5m from the St. James’ Park outfit for Harrison.

They are thought to want about £39.4m for the winger, but could be reluctant to sell given that they have already sold Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City and Raphinha to FC Barcelona in this window.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Downie revealed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) Public Investment Fund (PIF) could ‘revisit’ a deal for Harrison, after being rebuffed by the Whites:

“Jack Harrison is another one. It’s my understanding Newcastle were interested but was something Leeds did not want to entertain at all. That might be one they try to revisit.”

It seems as if both clubs are not too far apart in their valuations of the player, so this is a deal that the Magpies should be looking to get done as soon as possible.

Harrison chipped in with a handy ten goals and supplied a further two assists in total over all competitions last term (Transfermarkt), as he helped Jesse Marsch’s side avoid relegation down to the Championship, including scoring an injury-time winner away at Brentford on the final day.

He would give Eddie Howe another great option in attack, and of course the Toon would be weakening a fellow top-flight rival in the process.
