Newcastle now 'close to agreement' for £30m star at St James' Park

Newcastle United are now ‘close to an agreement’ over Joao Pedro after the St James Park hierarchy lodged a fresh bid for the Watford forward today, according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

The Magpies have spent close to £60million since the transfer window reopened for business, but head coach Eddie Howe could make further changes to his squad ahead of the September 1 deadline.

Downie understands that Watford are considering Newcastle’s second bid for Pedro, while the Magpies are desperate not to be left frustrated once again.

The Sky Sports reporter is aware that Howe’s target is keen to make the switch to St James’ Park ahead of the transfer deadline.

Downie told GIVEMESPORT: “They’ve made that bid and Newcastle are hopeful that it will be accepted. As we stand right now, at lunchtime on Tuesday, they are considering that bid.

“Now, there are reports
