Murder investigation launched after man found dead in house with police still at scene a week later

A murder investigation has now been launched after a man was found dead in a house in Wigan. Police attended reports of the concern for the welfare of a man on Fern Close, Shevington, last Wednesday morning (August 9).

The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at the scene. Initially, police said the man's cause of death was 'unexplained' as detectives and forensics remained at the quiet cul-de-sac conducting further enquiries to establish the nature of the incident.

A woman, aged 47, was later arrested on suspicion of murder by detectives on Monday (August 14) and has now been bailed pending further enquiries. Over a week later, police remain at the scene as investigations continue.
