Huge cordon in place in town centre as woman rushed to hospital after reports of violent assault
A huge cordon was in place in Eccles town centre on Thursday morning (August 17) after a woman was rushed to hospital following reports of a violent assault.
Police descended on Church Street, beside the Eccles shopping centre, shortly before 7am to reports that a woman had been assaulted by a man.
The victim, aged in her 30s, is said to have sustained a head injury that is described as serious, but not life-threatening and remains in hospital.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody for questioning.
Shop workers were met with the huge police scene as they arrived at work on Thursday morning, as a large cordon was put in place with officers in attendance for a number of hours.
Throughout the afternoon, a number of police cars remained stationed at the scene of the incident as enquiries continued.
