Motherwell sign Hibs winger on loan

Motherwell have made their second deadline day deal with the signing of Jair Tavares on loan from Premiership rivals Hibernian until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old winger is the club's 17th summer signing and follows the return to Fir Park of striker Jack Vale, who has completed a season-long loan from English Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

“Signing Jair is an excellent piece of business,” manager Stuart Kettlewell said. "We’ve got a player who has experience in this league, came through at a top academy at Benfica and will now get the opportunity of regular minutes here at Motherwell.

“He’s a winger who is direct, exciting and will add a lot to our team.”

Tavares has made three appearance for Hibs in the group-stages of the Premier Sports Cup and could make his debut in claret and amber tomorrow when the Steelmen travel to Perth to play St Johnstone.
