Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell: Five games in two weeks is no problem

Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell relishes a period of five games in two weeks, rather than fearing it being a test for his squad.

But Kettlewell acknowledges that the hectic schedule will involve him digging deep within his resources.

Motherwell host Ross County on Saturday and Aberdeen on Wednesday, before travelling to Kilmarnock on Saturday, November 4.

The re-arranged St Johnstone away game from last weekend is on the following Tuesday in Perth, before hosting Hearts on November 11.

Kettlewell used to relish a schedule like that as a player, does so as a boss, and says he will make sure his stars are the same, having not played since October 7.

“We go into a spate of games, five in two weeks, and I look forward to it.

“We’re just desperate to get the ball rolling again with competitive action.

“I know the players are champing at the bit, as well, so it’s important that we try and utilise those games and try to amass some points along the way, as well.

“I look forward to it, to be honest.

“I think we’re all in this game for one reason – we look forward to that match-day, that adrenaline buzz of trying to get three points, and the pressures that come with it.

“The fact there are a number of games coming in a short period of time, I always look forward to it.

“I always did as a player, I do as a manager, and it’s my job to ensure that the players are in the same position, that they’re relishing the opportunity of the opponents that we play over the next two weeks, and the quick succession of those games.

“You can get yourself into a good place as well, if you can get into a rich vein of form that’s a good place to be, so that’s how my mind-set always goes – I’m always the optimist.
