Motherwell boss doesn't anticipate bids for Lennon Miller ahead of window closure

Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell insists he’s comfortable with Lennon Miller’s situation and doesn’t anticipate any transfer window-busting moves.

But the Fir Park gaffer is anticipating things falling into place late on Friday that might allow him to add to his own squad.

Speculation has linked 18-year-old Miller with a move away from Fir Park, with Rangers reportedly amongst the interested clubs, but Kettlewell says there hasn’t been a conversation about that.

When asked if he anticipates a bid for Miller, Kettlewell said: “Genuinely not. It hasn’t been a topic of conversation. We’re all really comfortable where we are with Lennon at the club and for everyone else that’s performing well, to that matter.

“There hasn’t been a conversation broached, and we still work towards what we’ve always intended with players like Lennon and everybody else, which is keep playing, keep putting yourself out there for 90 minutes every week, keep developing as a pro, keep improving.

“A number of our players caught the headlines at the weekend for their performances, and that’s what we’ll look to continue.

“I don’t see any last-minute bids.

“We don’t need to move anybody out. If you look at my squad, I’m not really in a position to send anybody out at this minute in time.”

On his own transfer business, Kettlewell said: “We’re still working hard. A little bit slower than probably what we had hoped for, but we’ve got another full day today and then tomorrow.

“We’ll continue to work away to see if there’s anything we can do to try and help us bring a different profile to our group.

“Whether we can do that or not is sometimes subject to things happening elsewhere – that’s essentially where we are.
