'She's not been naughty, she's just got sore feet': Furious mum SLAMS school bosses who suspended daughter for wearing trainers

A mum has slammed her daughter's high school for the way she has been treated over school shoes. Teenager Maisie Castle-Dalton attended her first day back at Denton Community College in Tameside last Wednesday, starting in Year 9.

But her new Kickers shoes caused her to get huge blisters on the back of her feet, so the following day mum Sammi Castle sent her in wearing plain black Nike trainers, which she wore for the whole of Thursday.

Yet when the youngster arrived on Friday wearing the same trainers she was told she would have to go to supervision - where the pupil is isolated for the day and not allowed out at break or lunch, but has their food brought to them.

Unwilling to accept her punishment, 13-year-old Maisie refused, but was then suspended for the day, with Sammi having to collect her from school.

"I said to them 'I don't get why she has to be suspended, she wants to be in school'," said Sammi, 37. "I could have kept her off, but she was fine in the trainers as they are really soft, but I don't agree with her having to be isolated. She's not been naughty. She's just got sore feet."

The mum-of-two, who lives in Audenshaw, added: "The teacher brought her to me at school and I showed her a picture of Maisie's blisters, as she couldn't see them with the tights she had on. They said she'd been offered alternative footwear, but she's not wearing alternative footwear that we don't know who has been wearing and even if they're new, she would not have been comfortable.
