Motherwell Athletics Club hit top form in distance races

Motherwell Athletics Club sent a 25-strong team to the Brian Goodwin 10k in the Southside of Glasgow.

Arranged by Bellahouston Harriers, the race is a two-lap loop taking in Pollok Park and out onto nearby closed roads, the course is relatively flat with one small climb in the middle.

Runners are then welcomed at Cartha Queen’s Park Rugby Club for a burger and drink, with socks supplied by kit provider Migo Sports.

First over the line for Motherwell AC was Jonathan Moore, who finished seventh overall in a new personal best time of 31:32.

Senior endurance captain Emma Morris was first female finisher in 41:53.

Personal best times were recorded by Daryl Rea, Catherine Harvey, Maryann Milne, Lilly Jeffrey and Nichola McKenzie.

Motherwell AC were second women’s team on the night.

Meanwhile, Evan Crane ran the Centurion Running South Downs Way 100-mile race, finishing in 19hrs 58 minutes.

Jac Molloy ran the Great Manchester Run half-marathon and Roon the Toon 10k in Kilmarnock.

Angela O’Neill, Mick Cushley, Jonathan Moore, David McLeary, Ewan Cameron and Graeme Kennedy ran the Babcock 10k in Dumbarton.

Mark Smellie tackled the 26.2 for the first time at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, finishing in 4:13.43, and Catherine Harvey, Andrew Mungall and Briony Balfour tackled the Edinburgh Marathon Festival half-marathon.
