Morgan Gibbs-White shares image to claim Casemiro goal for Man United shouldn't have stood

Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White has expressed his frustration over a controversial VAR decision during their FA Cup defeat against Manchester United.

In the 89th minute, Casemiro scored the winner with a header from a free-kick ahead of a long VAR check after Raphael Varane appeared to have blocked Forest defender Murillo, but the goal was adjudged fair.

Nuno Espirito Santo's team created several good opportunities and they looked set for extra time at the City Ground before Casemiro's late strike. The FA Cup is now United's only chance of silverware this season given their Carabao Cup and Champions League failures.

After the game, Forest midfielder Gibbs-White posted on Instagram a similar foul by Liverpool's Wataru Endo in the Carabao Cup final, which resulted in Virgil van Dijk's goal being disallowed. He later deleted the post on his story, but the decision to allow Casemiro's goal means Forest missed out on an FA Cup quarter-final tie with Liverpool.

Forest manager Nuno did not give a clear opinion on the referee's decision. Instead, he praised the home crowd for their support and almost helping the team reach the next round.

"I'm not sure about it. I didn't clearly see the images," Nuno said. "Speaking to the players, they said there was a block in a possible offside. They checked it. But we have had so many issues during this period with VAR and referees that let's try to forget about it and move forward."
