'More to come' - former Manchester United star delivers verdict on season so far

Paul Ince believes Manchester United can have a say in the Premier League title race despite a mixed start to the campaign. A resounding 3-0 win over Everton moved Erik ten Hag’s side to within six points of league leaders Arsenal.

Many were expecting a cauldron of fire at Goodison Park following the Toffees’ 10-point deduction but United passed the test with flying colours. Performances have been mixed this season, with some questioning Ten Hag’s position in the dugout.

But a recent upturn in league results has eased the pressure levels slightly around Old Trafford. Remarkably, United are now just four points behind Liverpool, five behind Manchester City and six adrift of leaders Arsenal.

Former midfielder Ince highlighted how picking up points without playing well is a positive sign for the Red Devils. He told talkSPORT: “If you look at the points of the five or six teams in the league, there’s only three or four points between them. Everyone’s talking about Liverpool and rightly so, their transformation from last year is unbelievable, but United have not been playing well (and still winning).

“When you listen to Ten Hag, he talks about being organised and running harder than others. United are sneaking up. I still feel there is a lot more to come from Manchester United. They’re nowhere near playing their best football.

“Have they turned a corner? Can they get better? Yes. The Fulham performance wasn’t great. Good Premier League teams pick up points when they’re not playing well. They seem to have done that but now they need to switch it on.”
