Mike Tyson admits he 'didn't understand' what happened during Jake Paul fight
Boxing icon Mike Tyson has claimed he didn't feel fatigued during his eight-round bout against Jake Paul.
The 58-year-old Tyson stepped into the ring for his first official fight in nearly two decades last month when he took on the YouTuber-turned-boxer. His previous match before squaring off with Paul was a 2005 loss to Kevin McBride.
Despite the blend of doubt and optimism that accompanied Tyson's return, many boxing fans clung to the idea that 'Iron Mike' could defy the odds. However, as anticipated, Tyson's age seemed to play a significant role as he began to lose momentum from the second round, and he lost on points after eight rounds.
Speaking about the fight he told 7News via The Mirror: "Magically. It just happened so quick. Eight round were over fast. I wasn't tired. I wasn't sweating. I didn't understand that.
Although Tyson's time as a fighter looks to have to an end, he doesn't see his association with boxing ending. He said: "As I said before, the sky is the limit.
"Anything I want, I'm just happy to be able to do it. I'm very grateful to have the opportunity to be able to do everything that I want to do in this and beyond."
His remarks came shortly after his wife seemed to hint at Tyson's retirement from the ring. His son, Amir, disclosed that his stepmother has declared the icon "done" for good.
Speaking with Seconds Out, Tyson Jr said: "I think he's done. My stepmom, she's saying he's done and they're a team. That's husband-and-wife stuff."
