Manchester United in talks to sign 17-year-old sensation who could solve problem position for Ruben Amorim
Manchester United have entered talks with Cerro Porteno over a deal for 17-year-old wonderkid Diego Leon. The teenager is a potential solution to Ruben Amorim's side's left wing-back position.
United have scouted Leon and have now started negotiations with his club over a potential £3.1m deal for the defender, who has impressed for his club in Paraguay's domestic league.
Leon has made 21 appearances for Cerro Porteno, scoring two goals, and was an unused substitute for both legs of a recent Copa Sudamericana tie with Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense. The youngster is considered one of the hottest talents in South America and is physically advanced for his age, with speed, height, and athleticism in his game.

Left-back has become a problem position for United, and Amorim has rotated his options for the left wing-back role in his side. Tyrell Malacia recently returned from 18 months out with a knee problem and has started two games, but Luke Shaw is back on the treatment table after picking up a hamstring injury.
Malacia still has to prove himself at Old Trafford, and Shaw's injury issues are becoming a constant problem for the club. Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have both featured at left back this season, with Dalot also playing as the left-sided wing-back in Amorim's 3-4-3 system.
United already have a 17-year-old left-back in Harry Amass, but he is yet to be involved in the first-team group under Amorim.
