Mikael Lustig in merciless Rangers dig as Celtic hero brands Ibrox a 's***pit" amid biting allocation pop

Celtic hero Mikael Lustig branded Ibrox a 's***pit" as he couldn't resist a fresh pop at the Parkhead side's biggest rivals.

The Swede believes he and his former his team–mates had their fun against Rangers before the away allocation was slashed for Scottish football's marquee fixture. Lustig made an emotional return to Glasgow on Thursday night as he Scott Brown hosted a party night celebrating their trophy-laden stay in the east end.

And Lustig stole the show in the eyes of Celtic supporters with his barbed one-liner. The right-back – who won 16 trophy during his seven-and-a-half years at Parkhead – specialised in a series of trolls against Rangers in his playing days. He famously donned a beach ball on his head as he swaggered past Joey Barton during a 5-1 pasting back in September 2016. But his most revered moment was nabbing a policeman's hat and putting it on during madcap celebrations on the day Celtic thumped Rangers 5-0 to win the league in 2018.

Punters were regaled with stories from the pair plus a host of star guests including Ange Postecoglou and Gordon Strachan. The current Parkhead boss received a rock star reception when he entered the stage and had the audience in the palm of his hands when he described Strachan Sr as "Gavin's dad" – a playful line to big up his current key member of his coaching staff.

Special guest Charlie Mulgrew copped flak from Dundee United punters for attending an evening with Brown and Lustig amid their battle to remain in the Scottish Premiership. The Tannadice player-coach moved to allay fears and told United fans his focus remains on their ongoing fight for survival.
