Jack Butland reaches Rangers transfer 'compromise' to make Ibrox move a reality as keeper chooses football over money

Goalkeeper Jack Butland is closing in on a move to Rangers after showing he is keen to fit into the 'wage structure' at Ibrox,

The Manchester United back-up will be out of contract this summer when his contract at parent club Jack Butland expires. He has been heavily rumoured as one target Rangers boss Michael Beale wants to claim as part of his big Ibrox revamp, although academy goalkeeper Robby McCrorie has impressed with two clean sheets in the post-split Premiership matches.

According to the Daily Mail, Butland is "eager to play regular football again but initially his salary was deemed too expensive for Rangers." It is claimed the Light Blues have started looking at alternatives as "they did not anticipate reaching an agreement," while it was also claimed Manchester United were willing to double his wages to sign him permanently. But knowing Beale really wanted him in the door has pushed the former England stopper to a 'compromise' on personal terms that edges this transfer closer to completion.

But there could be a catch. Rangers hope to get him on a free transfer but Crystal Palace hold a year's option on the experienced stopper's deal.
