Michael Beale lets rip on Rangers stars after 'horrible' Motherwell victory as he names 4 reasons behind Ibrox slog

Frustrated Michael Beale has called out his "sloppy" players after Rangers narrow win over Motherwell.

Cyriel Dessers netted the only goal of the game after Rabbi Matondo saw his effort from range deflected into the net by the towering Rangers striker - but Motherwell left Govan disappointed that they had not taken something from the game after piling the pressure on the Light Blues. Beale's men beat Real Betis 1-0 less than 72 hours prior but the boss knew another victory was key if they were to keep the heat off, which had been turned up on him in the wake of a loss to Celtic away.

But the home crowd were less than pleased at the full-time whistle with sections of the support heard booing the players as they failed to build momentum on their Europa League exploits with a second consecutive impressive display. And Beale was in agreement with the irked punters as he branded the showing "horrible" - and demanded more from his side in the Viaplay Cup clash with Livingston.

He told Rangers TV: "Horrible performance. Didn't enjoy the game and I don't think the players enjoyed the game. I don't think anyone watching and supporting us enjoyed the game.

"We started the game poorly. Lots of sloppy individual errors. We lose another player to an injury in a match which is deeply unfortunate but our quality with the ball wasn't good enough. It's a win, and a clean sheet that's the only positives I can take from it.

"But that performance is below what is required at this football club. The players know it, I know it and we have a game again in three days. It's quarter final and we have to be better than that. The players level is higher than that."
