Metrolink line suspended after thieves steal electricity cabling
A section of a Metrolink was suspended this morning after thieves stole trackside electricity cabling.
The theft happened during the night between the Bury and Whitefield stations - forcing that section of the line to be closed while engineers repaired the damage.
The suspension - which caused disruption to commuters - was expected to be lifted during Wednesday afternoon. Tram tickets were being accepted on on a number of bus services (95, 98, 135 and 524).

It is the second act of vandalism on the line in two weeks - the line was suspended between Bury and Crumpsall 'due to an act of vandalism' on August 10, Metrolink said at the time.
Earlier today, Manchester Metrolink tweeted: "The Bury line continues to be disrupted this morning, with no services operating between Bury and Whitefield.
"This is due to a theft of important track materials. Engineers are investigating the full extent of the theft but hope to have services resume by early afternoon."
A spokesman for Transports for Greater Manchester confirmed that during the night thieves had stolen bonding cables on the tracks which allows electricity to return to a substation.
