Manchester United seeking more signings ahead of transfer deadline as Gary Lineker makes VAR point

United pushing for transfers

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants at least one more signing beyond Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayındır.

Bayindir, 25, is expected to join United in a €5million (£4.29m) deal and the club are exploring options to reinforce at left-back, with Luke Shaw set to be sidelined for at least two months with a muscular injury.

Sergio Reguilon of Tottenham and Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella are among the left-backs under consideration by United. A move for either Spaniard would be a loan arrangement.

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson is on the verge of completing a transfer to Crystal Palace for £20m plus add-ons. Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman was in the Old Trafford directors' box for United's 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday and Henderson travelled down to London with his agent that evening.

Lineker VAR point

Gary Lineker has suggested the two major decisions during Manchester United's 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest could have gone either way - and that VAR would not have intervened regardless.

United fought back from two-goals down to record their second win of the season at Old Trafford, thanks to goals from Christian Eriksen, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes. Forest had raced into an early lead with goals from Taiwo Awoniyi and Will Boly coming inside four minutes.
