Met Office weather map shows exact time when snow will next hit UK

A Met Office map has predicted exactly where and when snow will fall in the UK in the days ahead.

It comes as the forecaster warned of a mounting chance of 'wintry hazards' next week as temperatures remain colder than average with an Arctic front moving in. After a rather dry spell, more rain is set to move in from today, sweeping parts of Scotland and north east England.

Another band of light drizzle will fall as the week progresses, stretching across Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and the north of England - including Greater Manchester - on Saturday. But the UK won't get any snowfall until the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to the Met Office map, up to 4cm of snow will fall across parts of Scotland from midnight, including Craig, Fort Augustus, Dalwhinnie and Glendoll Lodge. By 6am, the snow fall will dissipate slightly, with patches of the white stuff falling in the most northern parts of Scotland.

By 9am, parts of the Lake District will see some very light snowfall, with less than 0.5mm predicted. By lunchtime, wintry showers will be continuing across north west Scotland, with up to 4mm of snow set to fall over the North Pennines in Cumbria.

However the snow in the north west will let up as the day continues - but the same can't be said for Scotland. The snow showers there will keep up until the early hours of Monday morning, with snow also due to fall across England's north east coast.

Up to 4mm of snow an hour will fall across Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington at around 3am on Monday. Further inland, less than 0.5mm of snow will fall.
