Met Office map shows where and when snow is set to fall in Greater Manchester this week
A blast of wintry weather could return to Greater Manchester later this week. The region saw a week of snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures earlier in January.
Conditions have been milder in the weeks since, but a few wintry showers could return on Friday morning (January 29). The Met Office is currently forecasting flurries of snow for parts of Greater Manchester in the early hours of Friday.
A band of rain is expected to sweep the region throughout the morning. But conditions are expected to be more wintry in northern and eastern parts of Greater Manchester. The latest Met Office maps show flurries of snow on higher ground to the north of Bolton and Rochdale from 1.30am.
Snow is forecast to be more widespread by 2am, covering areas near Bury, Oldham and Tameside, heading into the Peak District. Those conditions are forecast to continue for a number of hours, while heavy rain will fall on the rest of Greater Manchester.
Wintry showers are forecast to ease after 6am, with the band of rain expected to clear from the region later in the morning. Temperatures of around 2C are expected in the early hours of Friday morning.
