Messi and Ronaldo set for 'last dance' as Argentina icon and Portugal legend go head-to-head in blockbuster friendly

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will go head-to-head in colossal friendly being dubbed 'The Last Dance'.

The two stars, widely considered to be two of the greatest of all time in football, will square off next year in a friendly that has box office written all over it. Both Messi and Ronaldo made money-spinning moves to the MLS and the Saudi Pro League last year respectively, with the Argentina icon topping off his World Cup success with a move to Inter Miami, lighting up the pitch Stateside while Ronaldo ended his Manchester United return misfire with a move to Al-Nassr.

And the two clubs have scheduled a friendly in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in February of next year, as part of the Season Cup in the city. The pair, who are often used as the two opposing arguments in the ever-debatable question of who is the greatest of all time, have faced off against each other a whopping 36 times for club and country.

The majority of their ding-dongs came when Messi graced the turf at Barcelona and Ronaldo cemented his legacy at Real Madrid. Messi leads the head-to-head record with 16 wins in competitive matches against Ronaldo's 11, with the pair involved in nine draws when they have squared off.

Incredibly, the Argentine has 22 goals in those matches to Ronaldo's 21. The dynamic duo went head-to-head earlier this year when PSG beat a Saudi Pro League hybrid team 5-4 in a friendly.

Ronaldo bagged a brace in his first game in the Middle East. Messi also got on the scoresheet for the Ligue 1 side.
