Mercedes-EQ's Nyck De Vries Comments on Jakarta E-Prix Circuit
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Formula E Mercedes-EQ driver Nyck De Vries in Thursday’s meet and greet event held at the National Monument (Monas) applauded the Ancol circuit layout ahead of the Jakarta E-Prix race.
De Vries, who currently leads the driver’s championship tally, said he was shown the layout of the Jakarta track by a journalist during the Berlin race weekend. He noted the track’s width and the minimal amount of tight turns compared to other street circuits in the Formula E calendar.
Citing Antaranews, the racer said the turns are “slightly not as tight as other tracks.”
He also commented on what he considered as a warm welcome to Jakarta. “Every day since we landed here I smile receiving this warm welcome, it is truly incredible and the many talks about the event are what we yearn for, so thank you for that.”
In regards to weather during the Jakarta Formula E race slated for June 4, he said his team’s weather experts back in Germany had discussed possibilities of rain gradually clearing on Saturday.
Nick De Vries so far into the ninth season has won the Berlin E-Prix II that was held on May 15, a momentum he hopes can continue into Sunday’s race.
