WATCH | Jaguar TCS Racing and Mitch Evans win inaugural Formula E race in Jakarta

Formula E moved to Jakarta for the inaugural race in the country, with Jaguar TCS Racing's Mitch Evans claiming victory at the event's first running. It was Evans' third victory of the 2022 season.

Evans started the race in third place and kept his position in the opening stages. Soon after, the Jaguar TCS Racing driver passed his on-track rivals, dispatching António Félix Da Costa before battling with Jean-Éric Vergne. With minutes remaining in the race, Evans attempted another pass on Vergne, making it stick and keeping the race's lead.

Piloting the Jaguar I-Type 5, Evans also set the race's fastest lap with a 1:09.786.

Evans' teammate, Sam Bird, finished the race in ninth place after starting in 14th.

Evans said after the race: "It feels amazing to get my third win of the season. Physically today was really quite difficult, the temperature and humidity were both really high, but we managed to get our strategy right for pretty much the whole race.

"The balance of the I-TYPE 5 was incredible, until the last five laps where I started to really struggle with my rear tyres. This was challenging as I needed to defend from Vergne and Edoardo Mortara. Overall the team delivered another amazing race for me, and I'm really looking forward to Marrakech."
