McTominay, Cavani - Manchester United injury news and return dates vs Watford

Manchester United are set to be without two senior players for their Premier League game against Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Having recorded back-to-back victories over Brighton and Leeds United, another three points for United would see them move four clear of rivals Arsenal in fifth-place.

Arsenal are without a fixture this weekend as fellow top-four contenders West Ham meet Wolves on Sunday.

Switching focus back to the Premier League, the Old Trafford giants were without Scott McTominay (illness) when they headed to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night - with Edinson Cavani (groin) also missing for that Champions League last-16 opener at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Cavani has not featured for United since Burnley away on February 8.

There is no midweek game for Ralf Rangnick and his team to contend with after taking on Watford, but there is the Manchester derby to come on Sunday, March 6 at the Etihad Stadium (4.30pm).

Here is the current state of play on the Carrington treatment table;

Injury: Illness

Possible return date: March 6 vs Manchester City (A)

What Rangnick has said: "He's still ill and he hasn't been training with us, so hopefully he will start training with us again next week, but for tomorrow's game they will both [McTominay and Cavani] be unavailable."

Where will United finish this season? Have your say in the comments section below.

Injury: Groin

Return date: TBC

What Rangnick has said: "The situation is exactly the same. He [Cavani] hasn't been training with us so he won't be available for tomorrow's game and the same is true with Scotty [McTominay]."
