McLaren to carry Ayrton Senna logo on car in tribue to Brazilian great

McLaren will carry the Ayrton Senna logo from the Monaco Grand Prix onwards in tribute to the great man.

Senna is one of the all-time greats in Formula 1, with him winning 3 world championships and being widely heralded as the best of his generation, in a generation that was arguably the greatest ever as the likes of Alain Prost, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell and many others fought for supremacy.

Indeed, he was a driver that transcended the sport and he could have won even more had he not had his tragic accident at Imola in 1994 which saw him pass away after crashing from the lead.

Then, he was in Williams but it was perhaps in a McLaren that he was best known with that bright day-glow yellow helmet sticking out above the iconic red and white Marlboro colour scheme that adorned the McLaren-Honda in the late 80s.

McLaren, of course, now run Mercedes engines and are decked out in orange but they are one of the most historic teams on the grid and, in a nod to perhaps their most-iconic driver of all, they’ve revealed they will run the Senna logo on their halos from the Monaco Grand Prix onwards:

His bravery, commitment and ingenuity continue to set the standard for our team to this day.
