Mauldeth Road West CLOSED: Live updates as air ambulance lands on Manchester park

Police have closed off a busy south Manchester road following reports of a collision. Mauldeth Road West, in Withington, is closed in both directions this afternoon (May 31).

The road has been taped off between Wilmslow Road and Yew Tree Road, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system. Images show an air ambulance has landed nearby, on Old Moat Park.

Several police cars are currently in attendance. A post on Inrix said: "Mauldeth Road West in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident from B5093 Wilmslow Road to Yew Tree Road."

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service was called out to support police at the scene earlier this afternoon.

Crews were in the area for around 10 minutes but soon left.

Police remain in attendance.

It's understood the air ambulance has also now left Old Moat Park.

Stagecoach is warning bus passengers that the 25 bus will be disrupted with Mauldeth Road West closed following a 'serious collision'.

Eyewitnesses have seen at least half a dozen police cars in attendance on Mauldeth Road West.

The police dog unit is also in attendance.

Greater Manchester Police has been approached for comment.
