Matt O'Riley is Celtic last action hero as star man leaves Motherwell decked amid bonkers finale – 3 talking points

Sickened Motherwell were left floored as Celtic became last action heroes again after Matt O'Riley scored with the final kick of the game to snatch all three points in a 2-1 win.

A first goal in green and white for Luis Palma in the 87th minute appeared to win the game, however, the Honduran's effort was just the start of the drama. Blair Spittal equalised five minutes into added time to spark scenes of delirium among the home fans but there was time left for O'Riley to turn home to win it hours after putting pen to a bumper new four-year contract.

Stuart Kettlewell couldn't ask for more from his players bar the finishing touch in the final third as they caused Brendan Rodgers' side plenty of problems from first minute to last. Substitute James Forrest almost scored the opener before the mayhem but passed up the chance of the game before the the £3.5m signing from Aris came up trumps.

Rodgers waxed lyrical about the bowling green surface but free-flowing football from his side was missing - the first 45 minutes was disjointed and lacking in flair with a tepid shot from O'Riley the best of it from the visitors. But if the champions were blunt then the hosts were sharp as they defended well and posed a bonafide threat in attack. Harry Paton and Brodie Spencer – a pair of livewires – were brilliant and both caused panic in the visiting defence on several occasions.

Celtic headed into the half-time interval keenly aware they were off it but any signs of a spark were missing as it was the hosts who turned it up a notch.
