Mason Mount will need to draw on Chelsea experience upon Manchester United return
Mason Mount was a sight for sore eyes on Wednesday evening as images were released of the Manchester United midfielder returning to the Carrington grass.
To say Mount has been unlucky with injuries at Old Trafford would be an understatement. The latest issue with his calf has seen him miss seven Premier League fixtures and counting.
But Mount being back running led to more questions than answers about the midfielder's role. In his new signing's absence, Erik ten Hag has had to adapt and has now found a set midfield which has been treating him relatively well in recent weeks.

Kobbie Mainoo's return from his own injury has been a revelation for United. The teenager has shown abilities which have been severely lacking this campaign and plays with the freedom which is normally exclusive to those senior players.
When available, Bruno Fernandes is also guaranteed to start. As captain, Ten Hag trusts the Portuguese completely and his second-half display against Aston Villa showed why.
So, this leaves just one position in the midfield left. Upon his return, Mount will be competing against Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen for this role.
McTominay is United's top goalscorer this season and was even given the captaincy in Fernandes' absence at Liverpool. Eriksen may have faults defensively but his vision going forward can unlock the best out of the forward line.
Therefore, Mount could be arguably the fifth or sixth-choice midfielder at the club once Casemiro returns too. From what we have seen so far, the ex-Chelsea man does not have the qualities to unseat any of his teammates.
