Martin Boyle provides Hibs boost for Rangers clash as Nick Montgomery offers injury update

Hibs boss Nick Montgomery has revealed that star man Martin Boyle could make his return to action against Rangers at Ibrox tomorrow.

The Australia international has missed the last three games after being taken off in the closing stages of the first half in his side's 2-0 loss to the Gers in the Scottish Cup quarter final earlier this month. Boyle was withdrawn after suffering a nasty head collision with Rangers defender John Souttar, and was immediately taken to hospital as a precaution. But ahead of the Hibees rematch with the Light Blues tomorrow, Montgomery confirmed that the pacey forward is in line for a recall. He said: “We’ve been able to get Martin Boyle back in training after the head concussion he suffered, but he’s raring to go now.

“It took him time to recover but the break has given him extra time to recover and us to be more cautious with him. He’s been laughing and joking this week being his usual self. He’s a great character and we’re delighted to have him back in the squad.”

The Easter Road gaffer also says that fullback Lewis Miller could feature in Govan tomorrow, having recovered from a hamstring problem. Long-term absentee Josh Campbell is also edging closer to a return having been on the treatment table since suffering an ankle injury in the derby day defeat to Hearts on December 27. The midfielder is set to resume training with the rest of the squad next week.

Montgomery added: “Lewis Miller has been back out on the grass and has a good chance to be involved but we will monitor that one and make a decision tomorrow. We have to get him back to 100%, but he’s looking good at the minute.
