The REAL Dundee 'consequences' after Rangers pitch farce laid bare by baffled Hibs boss Nick Montgomery

Irked Nick Montgomery has claimed that the only "consequences" Dundee have suffered over the postponed Rangers clash is that they have landed a free week.

And the Hibs boss has called for the SPFL to "learn from mistakes" as he backed up the Easter Road club over their questions over sporting integrity. The capital club have reportedly held crunch talks with league bosses over the decision to postpone the game for a third time - taking it beyond the final round of fixtures Hibs will play before the Scottish Premiership top six split.

The Hibees are in a three-way battle with the Dark Blues and Motherwell for a top six finish with Montgomery taking his troops to Fir Park on Saturday and Tony Docherty and his men in action at Aberdeen. Should Dundee lose out in the Granite City and Hibs win they would now face an anxious wait to find out their fate for the final five games - while the Steelmen can make the top six with a win and back-to-back defeats for Tony Dochery's men.

And frustrated Montgomery said of the decision to postponed again: "It's a little bit disappointing. It affects the last round and the integrity of the competition. I haven't really commented on it because it's nothing that I can control or that we can control but I think everyone knew there was a real good chance that that game was going to be off last Wednesday. It is a shame that there wasn't an alternative venue arranged for them to play the game.

"We'd like to think that we'd learn from mistakes in the past and there's been the mistake this week. So now hopefully moving forward, that's something that that can be better prepared for because there is enough stadiums where the game shouldn't be called off in April, 2024.
