Mario Frick in bitter Hibs blast as seething Swiss gaffer 'p***** off' after Luzern lose to 'inferior opponents'

Livid Luzern boss Mario Frick has slaughtered "inferior opponents" Hibs in a bitter blast after they were dumped out of Europe by Lee Johnson's side.

And the club's captain has also launched a tirade against Hibs' "timewasting tactics". The Easter Road side battled to a superb 2-2 draw in Switzerland to set up a mouthwatering Battle of Britain clash with Aston Villa this week in the play-offs for the Europa Conference League.

But former Liechtenstein legend Frick couldn't hide his frustration and disgust at losing to Hibs in a classless outburst. He said: "I can't get over the fact that we couldn't win either game against Hibs, even though we were clearly the better team twice. It's particularly frustrating because Djurgardens were significantly better than Hibs in the previous round. They were definitely a level above Hibernian. To concede five goals against such an inferior opponent is incomprehensible and pi**es me off."

And Luzern captain Max Meyer was equally scathing of the victorious Leith side. He moaned: "We should have knocked out Hibs. We were far too naive.

"They were time wasting from the very first minute. Every throw-in they took minutes off the clock. It wasn't easy for us. We threw everything at them, but didn't take our chances. We have to get our heads up and focus on the league."
