Marcus Rashford sends message to Man United teammates ahead of Man City game after winning award

Marcus Rashford has delivered a message to his Manchester United teammates after being crowned Premier League Player of the Month for September. Rashford, 24, scored two goals and laid on as many assists to grab the prize ahead of Erling Haaland and other contenders.

Due to postponements caused by The Queen's death and funeral, United only played two Premier League matches in September. They came against Leicester City and Arsenal as Rashford played a key role in picking up full points.

Rashford netted twice against the Gunners and provided assists in both games. Rashford has won the Player of the Month accolade twice over the course of his career - he last picked up the prize in January 2019.

Rashford getting back to his best has been a huge boost for United after their 46-cap England international only scored five goals in all competitions last season, with the club finishing a dismal sixth place and missing out on Champions League qualification.

After being handed the Premier League gong, Rashford took to Instagram to thank his teammates. Addressing his 12.8million followers on the platform, he said: "I'm happy to win Premier League Player of the Month... Thanks to my teammates and all the staff that have made this possible."

Despite making a huge impact against Leicester and Arsenal, Rashford was absent for Europa League games against Real Sociedad and FC Sheriff due to injury. However, after returning to Carrington from his muscular problem, Rashford is available to take on Manchester City.

United and City will battle for Manchester bragging rights at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon (2pm).
