Luke Shaw sends warning to Manchester United teammates after Newcastle draw

Luke Shaw has admitted that Manchester United "have to be winning these games" after their 0-0 draw against Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag's side failed to claim all three points in front of their home crowd, as both Marcus Rashford and Fred were found guilty of wasting glorious chances to win the match. The Brazilian should have put the ball into an empty net after Rashford skipped past Newcastle's goalkeeper Nick Pope to set up the midfielder, yet Fred's attempt somehow sailed wide of the post.

In the dying moments of the game, Rashford had the opportunity to become United's match-winner, yet his header from the edge of the six-yard box also failed to find the target.

Shaw was chosen to start over Tyrell Malacia for the second Premier League game in a row, as the 27-year-old helped United keep their third clean sheet of the league campaign. Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Shaw opened up on what was a difficult result to take for Ten Hag's side.

Shaw said: "I think overall, disappointed [with the result]. Games like this at home, we have to be winning these games, especially as a team with what we want to achieve and where we want to be. I think games like today are very important to pick three points up on, of course we didn't do that today so it's disappointing but you know we've got another big game on Wednesday, so full focus on that."
