Cristiano Ronaldo receives messages from Manchester United teammates after Everton winner

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 700th goal in club football during Manchester United's victory over Everton on Sunday night - and several of his teammates were quick to laud the Portuguese legend.

The 37-year-old started the game at Goodison Park on the bench, with Reds manager Erik ten Hag opting to start with a front three of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Anthony Martial against the Toffees. However, Ronaldo was required in the first-half after Martial - who was seen clutching his hip prior to kick-off - was forced off just before the half hour mark due to the injury.

Ronaldo, who had started in the Europa League win over Omonia Nicosia in midweek, came on to replace the Frenchman and bagged his first goal of the Premier League campaign for United after being played in by Casemiro.

Antony, who made it 1-1 against Frank Lampard's side with his third consecutive Premier League goal, took to Twitter to congratulate the Portugal international.

He said: "What an honour for me!! Congratulations, @Cristiano!! Another great brand in a career full of achievements and achievements!! May we enjoy this even more together!!"

Marcus Rashford also praised the veteran striker, tweeting: "Solid team performance. Congratulations @Cristiano on hitting your milestone".

Diogo Dalot - posting on his Instagram story - added: "Record breaker.
