Kwon Hyeok kyu to Celtic transfer fee revealed as Brendan Rodgers closes in on double K League swoop

Celtic are closing on a Korean double deal with K-League sensation Kwon Hyeok-kyu set to follow attacker Yang Hyeon-jun to Scotland.

The Hoops look to have landed wide man Yang after summer long chase with Gangwon finally giving the green light to a £2.1m move. And Kwon could be the next on the way from the Far East with the midfielder – dubbed the K-League Rodri due to this similar style to the Man City and Spain star – understood to be on his way from Busan I-Park.

Parkhead scouts have tapped into a rich seam of talent on the other side of the globe with the likes of Kyogo, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda becoming smash hits in Scotland under former boss Ange Postecoglou. Hitman Oh Hyeon-gyu also arrived from Korea and new boss Brendan Rodgers has been casting his eye over suggestions from the region. Yang has been a long-term target but Gangwon have been playing hardball despite a fee being agreed weeks ago.

The K-League strugglers were keen to hang on to the attacker until January – but Celts insisted the deal had to be be done this summer. Yang has repeatedly admitted he was desperate to move to Parkhead and has spent the last month in a dispute with club chiefs. The switch now looks to have been smoothed over with Rodgers set to ramp up his recruitment plans.

The Irishman has already drafted in midfielder Odin Thiago Holm and wide man Marco Tilio – who will miss the start of the season due to an injury picked up with the Australia national side last month. Utility man Tomoki Iwata’s permanent move was also rubber stamped while Kwon is also edging closer to a £1m deal.

The 22-year-old is a highly-rated prospect in his homeland with the towering 6ft 3in midfielder getting rave reviews since bursting in to the Busan side
