Manuel Ugarte sends four-word Man United message after transfer update emerges

Manchester United's hunt for a new midfielder looks set to continue into the 2024/25 Premier League season after reports claimed they were looking at other targets instead of Manuel Ugarte.

A deal for Ugarte had been explored for some time by United's newly-formed recruitment team, but Paris Saint-Germain's £51.4million asking price for the Uruguay international has proved to be an issue.

On Monday evening, it was reported that the Red Devils were switching their focus away from Ugarte and on to other candidates. Burnley star Sander Berge, Wolves' Joao Gomes and Monaco's Youssouf Fofana have all been linked with moves to Old Trafford recently.

It has since emerged that United remain in talks with PSG about coming to some sort of agreement to bring Ugarte to the Premier League. Personal terms aren't thought to be an issue for the player meaning United could still add to their midfield with the 23-year-old.

Amid intense speculation linking Ugarte to United, the midfielder has sent supporters into a frenzy with his social media activity on Tuesday. Compatriot Facundo Pellestri has returned to Carrington following his Copa America participation with Ugarte and posted a series of images on Instagram.

Ugarte commented: "Is that the cut," on Pellestri's post. It's not actually clear what the PSG star is referring to but it has left some fans excited about the prospect of Ugarte being keen on a move to Manchester.
