Manuel Ugarte alternative drops fresh Man United transfer hint as £51m deal stalls

Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has dropped a fresh transfer hint - by posing with a Manchester United shirt on social media - amid ongoing speculation around his future.

United are in the market for another No.6 this summer and Amrabat is among four names they are monitoring. The 27-year-old made 21 appearances in the Premier League last season during his loan spell at Old Trafford and United still have an option - not obligation - to sign the player permanently.

Manuel Ugarte, Adrien Rabiot and Real Sociedad playmaker Martin Zubimendi are also on radar. Burnley midfielder Sander Berge has emerged as another option, too, as United continue to search the market to replace Casemiro in their engine room alongside Kobbie Mainoo.

With deals for Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee being rubber-stamped last month, United are still 'open' to signing up to two more centre-backs and cover for Luke Shaw at left-back. Another priority for Ineos, which dates back some time, is a top-class holding midfielder to unleash Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes.

As things stand, there has been no breakthrough in that ongoing search, with a proposed move for Ugarte stalling. Amrabat has, meanwhile, once again sparked up debate with his social media activity.

Amrabat, who is oddly still listed as a first-team player on United's official website, is even displayed there wearing the new home shirt. The Moroccan has not been training with Fiorentina this summer.
