McTominay, 27, has 12 months left to run on his contract at Old Trafford, although the club does hold an option with that agreement. Napoli are said to be interested in his services.
McTominay holds the key for United between now and the August 30 deadline. In their ongoing chase for Manuel Ugarte - or another holding midfielder - Ineos must generate funds, while McTominay is (inadvertently) responsible for what else might be possible in their recruitment drive.
